Coffee Shops in Traverse City: Downtown

The must-visit coffee shops downtown.

Brew

Unfortunately Brew closed down in 2023, but I’m keeping this block here because Brew was my and my sister’s favorite coffee shop that we frequented often throughout my 4 years living in Traverse City

With a prime location on Front St just east of Union, Brew is one of the best coffee shop cafes to hang out in the morning, noon, and night. Brew is open until 9PM, often featuring live music, they have delicious small plates and snacks, and not to mention the drinks. From coffee, to cocktails, anyone and everyone can enjoy something. Whether you’re looking to study, read, or catch up with friends, Brew is your place. (This is hands down one of my favorite coffee shops in Traverse City)

Espresso Bay

Mon-Sat 7AM-6PM | Sun 8AM-5PM

Located on the corner of Front St and Cass, Espresso Bay is your go-to Northern Michigan coffee shop. With endless blends of coffee and various lattes that change each season, there’s always something new and delicious to try at Espresso Bay. This is the perfect spot to grab a seat and study or take your coffee down to the bay.

Good Harbor

Mon-Saturday 7AM-2PM | Sun closed

This is Traverse City’s oldest coffee shop, located on Front St just west of Union. Good Harbor has in-house pastries and delicious espresso drinks. However, there is very limited seating is available inside but don’t let this deter you from swinging in and taking a beverage or treat to-go.

Hexenbelle

Tue-Fri 7:30AM-3PM | Sat 8AM-3PM | Sun-Mon closed

In the Warehouse district of TC you’ll find one of the best coffee shops in Traverse City! With mouth-watering coffee and espresso drinks, treats for breakfast, and home-made Arabic food, Hexenbelle is a must-visit! A good amount of seating is available inside and when the sun is shining you can grab a seat out on their patio. In conclusion, this is one of the most unique coffee shops in Traverse City!

Mundos Roasting & Co.

Mundos West: Mon-Sat 7AM-2PM Sun closed | Mundos 305: Mon-Sat 8AM-4PM Sun closed

With three locations in Traverse City, there is no shortage of delicious beverages to be found! Undeniably, each location of Mundos has incredibly creamy lattes, freshly roasted coffee, and mouth-watering plates. Mundos West is located on Front St west of Division, with limited seating indoors and outdoors. This is my favorite place to either grab a cup to-go or sit with my laptop and work. The downtown location, Mundos 305, has expansive seating. This is the perfect place to hunker down for a day of work or to get together with your friends. Mundos HQ is located on Garfield and also features lots of seating! Mundos hands down is one of my favorite coffee shops in Traverse City when I know I need to get work done!

Morsels

Mon-Fri 7:30AM-6PM | Sat-Sun 8AM-6PM

Espresso + Eatables, what more could you want? Located on the east end of downtown, this is the spot to start your day and explore Traverse City. Park in the Hardy Parking Garage and make your way across the street to Morsels. Grab a seat along the Boardman River and enjoy delicious pastries and desserts to last you the entire day. Try some creamy espresso drinks perfect for the morning or mid-afternoon pick me up.

Rough Pony

Wed-Mon 8AM-3PM | Tues CLOSED

Rough Pony is located where BLK/MKT was previously and run by the owners of Rose & Fern, you have Traverse City’s coolest cafe shop by far. Not just limited to coffee, Rough Pony has smoothies, house made spritzers, food, books, and more! Undoubtedly, the most inclusive and friendly space in the Warehouse MKT, Rough Pony is also located in the same building as Hexenbelle! Visit the cute plant shop next door, Darling Botanical Co, with your beverage and then head down Hall St. for a short walk to the bay!
