Let’s Go on a Hike! Ep. 4 – Oleson Bridge Trail

Welcome to Let’s Go on a Hike! Here I’ll have weekly reviews on hikes throughout Michigan (and maybe beyond). Questions like: Can I trail run this path? How much parking is available? How difficult is this trail? and many more will be answered!

The Basics

Oleson Bridge Trail has numerous trails, we walked is a 1.6 mile loop trail with about 60 ft elevation change.

This trail head is located at 591 Keystone Rd S, Traverse City, MI 49696, in the Grand Traverse Natural Area Reserve. However, there are a few other trail heads on Keystone Rd.

The trail goes through a forest, near a river, as well as through open field. Ample parking is available right at the trail head. There is no water source available throughout this hike. The trail is wide enough for 1 person. Dogs are allowed (as long as they are leashed). There is no entrance fee.

The Highlights

This trail features a beautiful river, with a few lookouts. The trail was very well kept, not too many roots.

The Warnings

This trail has poison ivy and it is posted throughout the trail however it’s very cleared out around the trail.

This trail is also near a main road, so traffic noise is possible. However, when walking along the river the noise seemed to not be an issue.
