Date Day in Ann Arbor (Under $30)

Dates can be expensive. Whether it is a friend date, sister date, or significant other date, things add up quick. Here’s a fun-filled day of stuff to do in Ann Arbor that won’t break the bank!

First stop, Matthaei Botanical Gardens

This is a great place to go in rain or shine. On a nice day there’s about four miles of trails and gardens to walk through. If it’s too hot out or rainy, head inside the conservatory, walk around the lush plants and giggle at some of the names like my sister and I did.

Admission to the gardens, trails, and conservatory are completely free (though a suggested donation is $5). However, you will need to pay for parking, it is ~$1.70 an hour or $5 for the whole day.

Next grab lunch at Moonwinks Cafe

Lots of spots to sit inside, lots on the menu, and games to play while you eat caused my sister and I to spend almost 2 hours here! This great cafe in Dixboro has lots for breakfast, lunch, as well as coffee and desert (including lots of ice cream!). We also loved that they had a large number of card games sitting out to play (our favorite is Exploding Kittens). Moonwinks is very reasonable priced for all that you get and the food was delicious!

Last stop at the University of Michigans Museum of Art

Another free place to visit (suggested donation is $10). There are three floors of artwork displayed throughout the museum. Everything from European, Asian, African, Contemporary, and Modern artwork. A perfect place to spend a few hours when the weather is bit rough.
