Hiking Trails in Different Seasons – Munising Falls

If you know me, one of my favorite things is hiking the same trail during different seasons. I think it is SO COOL to see the similarities and difference each season brings. With that, I realized a few weeks ago I hiked the Munising Falls trail 3 times this year, and in three different seasons! Winter, Summer, and Fall!

Winter

In January my dad, David, and I went up to the UP. During a snowstorm, yes crazy, but it was so worth the gorgeous views from freshly fallen snow. This was my dad’s first time to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and it had been about 5 years since David and I had been here.

Munising Falls wasn’t completely frozen, you could still hear some water falling behind the massive frozen icicle .

In early September my dad and I took a “Dad/Daughter” trip back to UP to hit some old spots as well as explore some new places. My dad has been the inspirer to hike the same trails in different seasons so of course we had to head back to see what everything looked like now that there wasn’t 4’ of snow on the ground.

Munising Falls looks much smaller as a normal waterfall compared to when it’s frozen!

Fall

Mid October my sister and I took a camping trip and it could not have been a more perfect weekend. Mild (and I mean MILD) fall temperatures. It only got down to 53 degrees one night!! No rain in sight. This was my sister’s first time in the UP so I packed our trip full and one day included heading over to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, so I obviously had to include this short hike.

Munising Falls looked just as gorgeous as summer time, now just with a hint of color change!

Let me know what trails are your favorite to hike in different seasons! (Bonus points for trails with waterfalls!)
