Let’s Go on a Hike! Ep. 18 – Pelizzari Natural Area

Welcome to Let’s Go on a Hike! Here I’ll have weekly reviews on hikes throughout Michigan (and maybe beyond). Questions like: Can I trail run this path? How much parking is available? How difficult is this trail? and many more will be answered!

The Basics

Pelizzari Natural Area has over 5 miles of trails, with a couple different loops to take. We hiked 2.3 miles. This trail has slight elevation change, at about 200ft.

The trail head is located off of M22, up Old Mission Peninsula, on the east side of the road. There is a parking lot with a decent amount of parking.

The trail goes through a forest and open fields. Parking available right at the trail head in a parking lot. The trail is wide enough for 2 person, sometimes 3. Dogs are allowed (as long as they are leashed). There is no entrance fee.

The Highlights

A beautiful dense hemlock forest, with some views of the East Bay through the trees.

The Warnings

We saw a lot of dog poop on the trail.
